Andhra University, Visakhapatnam was established in 1926. The aim of Andhra University is to offer the students with the required education in order to excel in their careers. Andhra University is a public university under the state government of Andhra Pradesh and is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Some courses also admit students on the basis of merit or other national and state level entrance examinations like AP ICET, AP PGECET, AP EAMCET, GATE, NATA and several others. 

Andhra University also offers internship and placement opportunities to the students through its training and placement cell. As per the NIRF 2024 report of Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, the median salary offered to UG graduates in 2023 placements of Andhra University was Rs 3.55 Lakhs to Rs 7.55 Lakhs, while that offered to PG students ranged from Rs 4.50 Lakhs to Rs 6.62 Lakhs.

Andhra University’s nearest airport is the Visakhapatnam Airport which is at a distance of 18.5 km and is easily accessible by road. It takes 37 mins from Visakhapatnam to reach the university. You can go via Gajuwaka - Scindia road. The students can either hire a cab or take a bus to reach the university. AU Out Gate City Bus Stop is the nearest bus stop at a distance of about 1.5 km. You can also take an autorickshaw to reach the university according to your convenience.
