Central Agricultural University (CAU) in Imphal, Manipur is a premier agricultural university in Northeast India. Central Agricultural University was established in 1993 under the Indian Parliament Act (No. 40) to provide education, research, and extension services in the field of agriculture and allied sciences.
The university's main objective is to develop human resources in the field of agriculture by offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in various disciplines Sciences, Medicine and Allied Sciences, Engineering and Architecture and Management and Business Administration. It also conducts research in various areas of agriculture and allied sciences to develop new technologies and practices for the benefit of farmers and rural communities.
The University offers 12 Undergraduate, 52 Postgraduate and 26 Ph.D. degree programmes in different subjects/disciplines of Agriculture & Allied Sciences through its 13 constituent colleges located in seven states of the North-East region of India. CAU Imphal is actively involved in various research activities and collaborations with national and international organisations. It has received funding from prestigious agencies like the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), and Department of Science and Technology (DST) for research projects.
