Himalayan University, Itanagar was established in 2013. It is a private university, established by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. Himalayan University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Himalayan University is also recognised by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB). Himalayan University Itanagar is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The mission and vision of the university are to enhance opportunities for students by promoting quality education with the help of its research and development programmes. 

The Himalayan University, Itanagar offers diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of Science, Engineering, Arts, Management, Computer Science, Commerce, Law and many more.
