Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), Gangtok was established in 1995. It was formerly known as Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences. SMU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Sikkim Manipal University offers courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels with multiple disciplines. All courses offered by SMU Gangtok are approved by regulatory bodies including Medical Council of India (MCI), Nursing Council of India, Indian Association of Physiotherapy, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Distance Education Council. Sikkim Manipal University has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an ‘A+’ grade.
The entrance exam scores of JEE Main/ MET / SMET (SMIT Entrance Test)/ NEET UG/ GATE/ MAT/ CAT/ GMAT/ CMAT/ NEET PG are accepted for admission to various UG and PG courses at SMU Gangtok. Some of the major companies that visit the campus during SMU placements are Dell, Microsoft, Capgemini, HCL, Hexaware, Ericsson, Tech Mahindra, Amul, Titan, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Bandhan Bank, Wipro, Accenture and many others.
