Puducherry Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences College of Nursing is a well recognised institution, which was started in the year of 2004. This affiliated college is situated in Kalapet, Puducherry, and the college holds INC approval from the Indian Nursing Council. The campus covers an expanse of 33 acres of area to allow for the proper growth of the campus and all that is on it as well. International students are 92, and domestic are 200 combining for a total student intake of 292 As for faculty members, the college has 36 faculty members offering multicultural nursing courses. The institute offers 9 courses at three levels of degree and offers specialisations in Medical Surgical Nursing, Paediatric Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing etc. Being a mixed institution allows it to enroll students of all genders enabling the school to embrace the fruitful enrolment of diverse students.

The college has state-of-art facilities in a bid to promote learning among the students. This library is an essential component of the institution and it avails large, well aerated accommodation accompanied by well-selected sitting arrangements. Run by professionals and an experienced librarian, the centre has section for journals and an electronic library which has computers with internet connection. The college facilities include departmental laboratories that facilitate practical learning enculturation of students. 

There is a good IT support for learning and teaching, as well as research activities. As for the accommodation of female students, they have an college hostel provided with number of facilities for accommodation where they can choose between single bath attached room facility and the other one is the double bed room facility.. To add on it basic amenities include a mess, dining hall, safe and clean drinking water, security guard round the clock and CCTV cameras. Extra facilities including a gym, players’ facilities and internet connection act as bonuses for the student.

PIMS College of Nursing provides a complete overviews of programmes offered in nursing. It offers 9 courses and 7 of them full-time, 1 part-time and 1 doctoral programme. The following represents a degree matrix of nursing courses offered for Bachelor degree, Master degree, and Doctorate degree. These include 60 seats in academic programs approved for an annual intake of 118 students. It has been discussed above that specific graduation figures for the latest year are not displayed but the overall enrollment data is aligned with the intake capacity which speaks about the full absorption capacity of the college.

The largest course in the institution is the B.Sc nursing course which has a throughput capacity of 60. The Post Basic B.Sc Nursing for registered nurses intends to provide 30 seats enabling nurses to advance their education. The Master’s programmes in the chosen fields of nursing offer 4 seats each, give students the opportunities to proceed with their studies and specialise. The college also provides full-time and part-time, separately, Ph.D. programmes in Nursing with the total of 4 seats designed for students who would like to proceed with a doctorate and academic position.
