Government College, Jhandutta, set up in July, 2007 and is an affiliated college in Jhandutta town of Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh. This centre for learning provides various types of undergraduate programmes so as to help the students meet their learning needs. The college has a total of 519 students and is staffed by 39 faculty members, thereby providing a good student-teacher ratio and thus ensuring that students are given proper attention and receive quality education. Government College, Jhandutta, has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for its standard Education. The college offers three full-time degree programmes, a three year Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) programmes.

Government College of Jhandutta provides a range of physical structures or equipment with the aim of promoting student learning and growth. This function makes the library more important, since it offers students numerous academic references, and other readings. As part of practical training needs of the college, separate and well equipped laboratories are made department wise for visual and comprehensive study. To cope up with advancements in educational technology, the college has developed and established proper IT and computerisated it with well equipped and updated softwares. It also helps the students to lead a well balanced life of academics and sports through its sports amenities.

The college has three full-time undergraduate programmes offered in the institution which includes the Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), which are suitable for student with various leaning leaning interest areas including Arts, Science and Commerce respectively. The college conducts 519 students intakes in total, showing a huge capacity in all its courses. The reason for such flexibility of courses is that students are empowered to pick a route in which they would like to build a career and in which they are most comfortable.

For admission in any course in the Government College, Jhandutta, the following procedures are followed for the admission of the students.  After completing the online registration to Himachal Pradesh University and then the admission for various courses is taken according to the merit of the students as per the rules of Himachal Pradesh University. In the context of the BA programme, the college has introduced the CBCS under the RUSA Scheme from the session 2013-14. What this system presents is that students can make their choices on the various courses that they need to undertake but it follows the credit hour system. In general, the duration of study for undergraduate programmes is three years although an extention of up to five years from the date of admission is permitted. Each student is allowed a maximum of 3 attempts to earn a particular course credit to avoiding labeling or stigmatising students.
