Himachal Pradesh University Business School, Shimla popularly known as HPUBS was established in the year 1971. The institute is a part of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU). HPU is a government university and is accredited with a grade ‘A’ by NAAC. The HPUBS was earlier known as the Institute of Management Studies. The HPUBS offers 2 levels of courses which include postgraduate and doctoral level programmes. HPUBS PG course includes a Master of Business Administration  (MBA). The HPUBS also offers a PhD programme at the doctoral level. 

HPUBS admissions to its MBA course are based on the Himachal Pradesh University Management Aptitude Test (HPU MAT). To seek admission to the HPUBS PhD programme, candidates who have qualified UGC-JRF will be eligible. HPUBS facilities include a separate hostel for girls and boys, a cafeteria, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a well-equipped computer lab and much more. HPUBS Placement cell conducts placements every year and helps students to get placed in the top national and international companies. HPUBS also admits a large number of foreign students from South Asian, Middle East and African countries.
